Who I am
I started programming as a child and never stopped. For the past twenty years I’ve done it professionally, mostly on the backend — the part of software nobody sees and everything depends on.
I work from Barcelos, in northern Portugal, for companies on the other side of the Atlantic. Ruby is the language I feel at home in, though the problem matters more than the tool.
I started out as a systems administrator, which left me comfortable with servers and infrastructure — ground many developers would rather not walk on.
What I do now
I split my time between an American service-management platform serving over a hundred thousand customers, and an international technology consultancy, where I lead the building of agent-based systems and the adoption of AI across engineering teams.
In recent years I’ve moved to building systems around agents — not as an accessory, but as the way the work gets done. It changes what one person can deliver.
Through my company I provide engineering services to people who need systems rather than pages: capacity reserved by the month, custom systems, integrations and applied artificial intelligence. What I do, in detail.
Away from the screen
I play competitive snooker, with the discipline the game demands and the patience it teaches.
